NSS

Objectives of the Club
The primary objective of Sri Vinayaga College of Arts and Science is to provide individuals with the necessary skills and knowledge to serve others. This focus on social concern is at the heart of the college's educational mission. Students are required to demonstrate sensitivity towards individuals who are economically disadvantaged and exhibit qualities of empathy, sympathy, and moral awareness. The NSS program seeks to instill a sense of social welfare in students and to offer unbiased service to society. NSS volunteers strive to provide assistance to individuals in need, with the aim of improving their quality of life and promoting a sense of dignity. By engaging in this activity, the volunteers acquire knowledge from others inside the community on how to navigate life in the face of limited resources. NSS provides assistance during both natural and man-made disasters by delivering essential supplies like food, clothing, and first aid to those who are in need. In due course, it will enable the establishment of connections and collaborations between the community and non-governmental organizations, institutions, and government agencies to enhance the efficient provision of services and support for advocacy.
What is the reason for choosing NSS?
The NSS derives its inspiration from the college's aim of cultivating individuals who are committed to serving others. The platform will enable students to engage in the practice and enhancement of critical thinking, leadership skills, and meaningful interventions for the purpose of constructing a fair and equitable society. According to the UGC and NAAC recommendations on Extension, the purpose of the NSS program is to disseminate knowledge and other institutional resources to the community and vice versa. The interaction between the institution and the people is a bilateral process that involves addressing the community's challenges through intellectual intervention and education. NSS seamlessly integrates theoretical concepts with practical application. This program will familiarize students with the necessary skills for community development and raise their awareness of the challenges faced by marginalized groups. It will also empower them with the confidence and satisfaction needed to actively contribute to the development of these groups.
